Samsung Washing Machine Error Codes
One page per code — never a wall of codes to scroll through. Find the code on your display, open its page, and you get the manufacturer's meaning, the causes in the order Samsung checks them, the exact steps, and a plain line for where DIY stops and a technician starts.
| Code | What it means | |
|---|---|---|
| 4C also 4E · E1 · nF | Water is not supplied — the washer is not filling correctly. | Guide → |
| 5C also 5E · nd · SC | Water is not draining from the washer. | Guide → |
| UE / Ub also UE · Ub · Ur · U6 | Spinning does not work — the load is unbalanced. | Guide → |
| dC also dE · dC1 · dL | The washer is running (or trying to run) with the door not closed and locked — on some models, an unbalanced load instead. | Guide → |
| 4C2 also 4E2 · CE · nF1 | Very hot water is arriving through the cold inlet — the hot and cold supply hoses are reversed. | Guide → |
| LC also LC1 · LE · LE1 · 1E | Water level or leakage error — moisture has been detected where it does not belong, or there is a problem with the level sensor. | Guide → |
| SUd also 5UD · Sd · 5d | Excessive suds — the washer has detected too much foam and has paused to let it settle. | Guide → |
| OC also OE · OF · 0C | Overflow error — there is too much water in the washer. | Guide → |
| 3E also 3C · E3 | Motor Driving Error — the motor is having difficulty operating. On some models, 3E is a voltage error instead. | Guide → |
The dC trap — read this first if your code is dC
Samsung uses dC for two different faults: a door error on most models, and an unbalanced-load error on others. Its own guidance says so in both sections. Our dC page carries Samsung's model table so you can tell which machine you have before you start ordering parts.
How the reset rule works on this site
Samsung does not publish one reset time — it publishes different waits for different code families: 1 minute in its 4C fill-error guidance, 30 seconds in its 3E guide, and 2–3 minutes for its general "all other errors" advice. Competitor sites blur these into a single invented figure, so the same site will tell you 1 minute on one page and 5 on another. We do not do that: every page on ApplianceSignal gives you Samsung's figure for your code family, and says which document it came from.
Codes we have deliberately not published yet
HE (heater error) scored below our publishing threshold in our keyword review. A heater fault is technician-only work with little safe DIY value to add, and publishing a thin, safety-sensitive page just to have the code would make this hub worse, not better. It will be added later, in a properly safety-led format, once the hub has the authority to carry it.
